La Florida ~ our new home

On Sunday evening Kenzo and I moved in with our Peruvian family!  Appropriately enough, their neighborhood is called La Florida – and we immediately felt right at home.

Our household consists of: Berta (la madre) and her husband Victor (el padre), their three adult sons, Fabriosio, Carlos and Fernando.  (Which is comforting for me – they’re somewhat making not having my brothers around easier for me to cope).  Carlos is married to Indira and they have a 6 month old baby.  Their family lives in the house as well.  Additionally, a nanny, Leo lives here too.  She has lived with Berta for 35 years!  We have a boxer named Peckas (freckles) – she’s white with a few speckled brown spots.  She had a litter of puppies about a month ago and all but one have been given away.  The one that remains did not have a name, so Victor told us to name her and be her godparents.  We gave her the name Jessie (Yessi here)…and when she’s bad, we call her Yessica.  The family thought it was funny that we gave a dog a girl’s name, but I told them that was not so unusual in the states.

Anyway, we are very happy and comfortable with the family and already feel like we’ve been here longer than 3 nights!  The family has two unused bedrooms for other travelers – SO if you come to visit us and want to stay here with us you can!  We eat all of our meals with the family and so far, so good.

I will eventually have photos of everyone, but for now, enjoy these photos of Yessi, and this photo of our bedroom.

We moved into the room with no windows because it has a closet – so, we’re not spending a whole lot of time in our room. But it is cozy…and with two beds together, its like we have a king!

PS…I have seen 11 clients already and have a lot to tell about my experience in therapy so far.  Once I have a little more time to process all that has been going on therapeutically, I will be sure to share that experience as well.
