Thanks so much for taking the time to visit our Peruzo blog! My name is Janie and my husband and I are spending 9 months living in Cuzco, Peru. I am currently working on a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling with a Concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of South Florida in Tampa. During this fall semester, I am participating in Practicum II – where I actually am getting a whole lot of clinical experience. I have the pleasure of working at two different sites. The first is the Belen Clinic – where we see patients presenting with various complaints. My second site is called Fundacion Cristo Vive. It is a foundation that mainly works with families who have experienced domestic violence. We see everything from the abused to the abuser – hurt women afraid to return to their husbands, husbands who are hurting from their wives leaving, children – broken by their broken families. It is pretty incredible and intense and I am thoroughly enjoying it. Additionally, I am Skyping into class once a week. Which is great, because I continue to get feedback from my peers and professor.
In addition to my love for my future career, I am also a passionate, professional photographer! I have my own business called Life Writing Photography. I love being able to freeze moments in people’s lives – moments that they will treasure forever. I continue to work while I am here. I will be traveling for three American weddings during these 9 months. Additionally, I have contracted to photograph some Peruvian families and I am hoping to also be able to photograph a Peruvian wedding – we will see. Feel free to check out my business blog at any time at: www.lifewritingphotography.com.
Finally, I am a born and raised Tampa girl who loves my family and friends! I miss them all very much and am honored to be able to share this experience with them through this blog.
